Eighteen articles,start to finish.
Articles 1 to 10 are the Constitution. Articles 11 to 18 are the By-Laws. Here is what each one covers.
- 01Preliminary provisionsOur official name, where we are based, who counts as a founding member, and what kind of organisation we are.
- 02Vision, mission, and goalsWhat we are working toward, and the eight goals we hold ourselves to.
- 03Declaration of basic principlesTen principles, from member sovereignty to ethical leadership, plus every body we are affiliated with.
- 04MembershipWho can join, what the application asks for, the six offices, the Skill Builder tracks, revalidation each semester, and what ends a membership.
- 05Organisational structureThe Board of Executives, department heads, faculty advisers, student consultants, and the BuildHers+ ambassadors.
- 06Roles and responsibilitiesWhat every officer is accountable for, office by office.
- 07MeetingsMonthly regular meetings, notice periods, the 8am to 8pm rule, minutes, and the quarterly on-site meeting per office.
- 08IndebtednessWe do not take on debt unless the Board approves it, documents it, and sees it repaid.

- 13Renewal and successionApril renewals, May selection, how the University Leader appoints a successor, and how officers move between offices.
- 14Non-hazing clauseHazing is defined in full and prohibited outright, in line with university policy.
- 15Removal from officeHow a charge is investigated, when an officer can be suspended immediately, and the petition and vote that removes one.
- 16Vacancy of the positionWho steps up, and how an interim officer is appointed.
- 17Terms of officeTerms follow our official leadership and transition calendar.
- 18Amendments and revisionsWho may propose a change, the ten-day notice, and the ratification vote within thirty days.
It is not fixedforever.
The document is meant to be revised as the group grows. Two articles govern that, and both need the members behind it.
Who can propose a change
The Executive Board, or at least two-thirds of active members. Proposals go in writing.
How much notice members get
At least ten days before the session that considers it, and two weeks for a Constitutional amendment.
What it takes to pass
A majority of active members present and qualified to vote, with quorum met, within thirty days of approval.
